did u ladies do the testing for down syndrome and stuff. I didn't do it...jus wondering what y'all did
I'm gonna pass on it. tks @candacelouise I don't wanna stress if I get a false positive becuz I worry alot
I got it done with my first pregnancy and the test came back negative. I also did it for this pregnancy and it came back positive with a 1 in 121 chance of having down syndrome. I was so stressed and worried about it! My obgyn did not seem to be worried because before I got the test done she told my husband and I how that blood test (quad screen) give a lot of false positives. She had seen it many times! So when thw quad screen test came back positive for DS she told me to not worry so much about it. She told me that she would be more concerned if I was older. Either way she drew blood from me for a more sensitive test that test checks for chromosome abnormalities..the test is 99% accurate. And she also sent me to see a genetics specialist. Well thank God the second test came back negative! I still had to get an ultrasound to check for any signs of my baby having ds..they do a really in depth ultrasound and check EVERYTHING!! Babies with ds have certain characteristics, for example spinal fluid, the measurement of nose, ears are a certain way. They look for things that babies with ds have. Well thank GOD that my baby was prefectly fine with no abnormalities! 👏🏼🙏🏼 i was so worried but trusting God and my baby girl is perfectly fine! The quad screen test gives a lot of false positives. My obgyn warned me of that and also the genetics specialist told me the same thing.
@ashly0414, ohh well maybe it's not something your doctor does unless asked...?
@ashly0414, they normally like to do it at 10 weeks but they might ask you next appt! Every doctor is a little different.
no. I don't believe in abortion so the result if not ideal would only stress me out for no good reason. I'd keep baby either way.
@kingdamari, that's an amino test... The test we are talking about is done by a simple blood draw of your arm. @ashly0414 you can research it, it will tell you if there are any chromosomal abnormalities.. Which in returns tells you whether your baby had Down syndrome or that 13 chromosomal disease.. And a couple others.
don't let them stick that big needle in ur belly or baby my niece had a steel born from that
@candacelouise, my Dr said its jus to tell u if ur at risk not if baby has it OE not
I didn't for the same reason as @renny_rayye16 I was told that they can also tell in ultrasounds usually if they suspect it as well.
@ashly0414, just gives you a heads up if they do. And tells doctors if they need to watch anything more closely for any reason.
For us we were high risk for birth defects and we had a really in depth study done ultimately they can tell you if you baby is likely to having it buts it's not a 100% sure thing. @ashly0414
@ashly0414, no it tells you if they have it or not. Or if they have any abnormalities
it doesn't tell u if they have it Or not. jus tells u how much risk ur baby is at having it right? @babybentley16 @renny_rayye16 @candacelouise
I didn't. didn't find a reason too. regardless if my baby does have it I will love her the same way and treat her with love. a disability doesn't define who you are.
I did but the only reason I did it was so if we tested positive I could learn what I need to about taking care of a downs baby and to find out what I would need.
@ashly0414, I did it both with my first pregnant and this one. All results came back negative !
