Okay mommies! Question!! My baby is a week old today and she hasn't had a poopy diaper in almost 3 days. I tried calling her pediatrician and since her first appointment is not until tomorrow, they won't give me any medical advise.😡 what should I do?!
also put a small amount of kayro syrup in her bottles. it is a laxative and it helps. my sister got so constipated that they were going to stick a tube up her butt. we tried kayro syrup in her bottles and it helped immensely.
stimulate the muscles , bicycling the kegs or thermometer. if you can just breast feed do that or switch to a gentle formula
Yeah I guess since it's worked for them before. My old pediatrician told me to give Elliot prune juice diluted with water when he got constipated. I was so reluctant to do that for him so young. Poor baby had such bad tummy aches when I gave it to him. Never again will he get prune juice for constipation! It got so bad we had to do suppositories @cubanese thankfully he is not constipated anymore!
I've had first hand experience with alternating from breast milk and formula, it constipated Elliot so bad, when I switched him to just formula he got regular again @cubanese their little tummies need consistency more than anything at this age. When I alternated like that I was doing more harm than good.
More iron will constipate her, do not give her water that young! @shannon_nicole8 I know you didn't reply back to me. But Elliot had constipation a ton when he was a newborn. I called his dr's office the dumb nurse said to give him water and I asked the dr and he said no do not do that
She's had both breast milk and formula. But this formula is with iron. Could that have anything to do with it? And I have tried calling her pediatrician but they won't give me any medical advise even though her first apt is tomorrow. And I tried calling the hospital and they told me they'd call me back but that didn't happen. I just want to know if this is normal and if there's anything I can do before tomorrow. Would water help? @cubanese
I wouldn't try milk that young, what you can try is bicycle exercises, bring her knees up to her chest and then bring them back down. What worked well for my son was a warm wash cloth on his belly, and even some stimulation, you can put a warm cotton ball on her bottom, or even take her temp rectally to try and stimulate her to poop. Hope this helps!
plus kayro syrup is safe for babies.
