reaching out to gamer moms with ps3 or wives of nerdy gamer guys with ps3s, I need your help! both…

how old are they? sometimes they need to be cleaned internally. unfortunately the ps3 is a pain to clean out. or to remove hard drive

@jadestarlight, they're both only 4 &5 years old and don't seem too dusty, they're in different rooms and different models so it really trips me out!! I have a PS2 that is 15 years old that works great and has only been deep cleaned once.... I don't plan to remove the hard drive, just see if I can get it through to the menu just once apiece, and transfer to an external.

I hate taking these things apart, those tiny screws make me crazy lol

and my grandma has a super nintendo that performs like a champion. did you buy them new or used. if your comfortable cleaning it yourself its worth a shot. otherwise you might need to get the external drive. I never had problems with my ps3 but my friends Xbox gave it fits like that.

@jadestarlight, my N64 still works too, go figure!!.... my husband got his brand new when it first came out and he was living with his ex wife, I got mine later on refurbished from ebay when I lived with my parents. everything is totally different with them.... I hope it's a cheap and easy fix, my husband doesn't care about gaming so it could be months before I can spend money on it

mine did that and after i let it sit for a couple of days i turned it on and it shut off. had to buy a new one

Ours did that as well, we had to reset it. Now it freezes when we play Black ops multi player but only that game! We said screw it and got a PS4 lol

@xoxo512070, that's what my husband keeps saying, but I have so much game play on the ps3 that I feel bad abandoning the games I was balls deep in and haven't finished LOL!!

@kattastrophe, thats how we were to! had to restart after we reset, well he did, all my black ops was saved to my name not the system! But we got the Ps4 and got all the same games, but we created different names and started fresh!

@xoxo512070, I'll probably get an external hard drive so I don't lose anything, but I'm hoping for the cheapest option. I have 250 hours on oblivion, 100+ on GTAV, some ps1 games, LBP 1&2 100% Completion (which isn't easy solo! gotta use tape and feet lol!!), and golden eye. I wish it was like the PS2 with memory cards

@kattastrophe, I know! at least your smart to get the external drive! I didnt even think of that. I only play black ops 3 but my fiance and son play other games
