I literally JUST learned phlebotomy and consider bruises zero tolerance. Did they push on the needle when taking it out and putting the gauze on?

you aren't supposed to go for a vein if you just see it, you have to actually feel for them because you have to make sure that there isn't a tendon under them that might cause the vein to roll. you also check to see if the vein is nice and bouncy (meaning good blood flood) so if you can feel it then the nurse should be able to.

yea next time im asking for a labtech. these nurses abuse me everytime @ginnalynn it really isnt that hard to find a vein. i am a lil difficult to find because u cant see them..but u can feel it if u touch my arm.

That makes sense @mommydiva16 that you had extended time to practice since you went to study phlebotomy specifically. I think they should raise the amount of time obgyn nurses study phlebotomy because they are not qualified on such limited time, and we pay for it smh

I always request to have a lab tech draw me because I've never had a nurse do a phlebotomy procedure correctly. I'm a lab tech myself and know how to draw blood the correct way and have watched so many nurses filet my veins that I can't even stand it anymore (I've even drawn myself just to get it over with). I automatically ask for a lab tech every time

At lab Corp they told me obgyn nurses only get 3 hours of practice with drawing blood during their education because it's not their main discipline. She said it's possible to always just request to go to labs to get blood drawn. Obgyn nurse stuck me three times (2 different nurses attempted) made it seem like my veins are hard to get into . Told her my hands are better to draw from but she didn't feel comfortable doing that. Went to labcorp one pinch in arm and it was done. Filled like 8 tubes
