I was dead set on natural birth with my first. Totally against the epidural. But when my water broke and those contractions came on not even a min apart, I was all about it! With my second I was more open minded, I wanted to try for natural again but wasn't against the epidural. I just told myself it didn't exist and I did it all natural! Whatever the situation calls for, whatever you're comfortable with. It's a personal choice.
Before I went into labor I was set to have a natural birth but then my daughters heart rate dropped drastically. To try and get it back up and less stress on her little body I was highly recommended to get an epidural so my body could rest allowing her heart rate to rise. Needless to say I ended up getting an epidural only for it not to work and having to redo it twice plus be given a stronger dose then normally. Her heart rate went up and that's all I cared about. Just keep your options open because you never know what could happen.
Right now you can say one thing and when the real thing is happening you can change your mind. Before giving birth i had my mind set on natural birth. I gave in for the epidural...dont get me wrong, it made everything easy and smooth for me. But it can different for you
Whichever one you choose when that time come. It's easy to say you want a natural birth until they induce you with pitocin and them contractions take over. Speaking for myself
