Question, what would you do situation: so the DR I see is an hour away, I picked that hospital for various reasons, however I have a hospital 5 mins from my house. If I end up having contractions & need to go to L&D do I go to the hospital that's in my town? Or the hospital I've been going to?

If I go to the one in my town does my file get transferred over?? I guess I'm not sure how that works

Ok that helped a lot! I will probably go to the 1 hour away hospital. The only cons about it, is how it's in a pretty high crime Town I just found out and the fact the traffic is pretty crazy sometimes to where my town is pretty dead and quiet. But all of you made good points @alesia_ @cowgirlffa90 @mommyof5kayla

I'm in the same predicament. But if rather deliver on the side of the road than deliver at the hospital down the street from me. I mostly chose the hospital 1 hour away because the hospital here doesn't have a NICU and I wanted to keep my same Dr. and he doesn't associate with them.

I have a hospital around the corner from me, but I see a doc at a hospital an hour away for my baby. I will be going to the one an hour away if I go into labor. I don't want to deliver at the one close to my house because they about killed me and my son when my son was born, and the doctors here didn't monitor me and I had a miscarriage and they didn't do a d&c and I wound up With a uterine infection. Long story short I won't go to this hospital. They can transfer your records from the hospital you usually go to, to the one closer to home if you decide you want to go there instead. It can take a while to transfer them though, so be prepared for lots of questions!
