What if you refuse those eye drops in the babies eyes ???? Do they really need them

It's for infection....I wouldn't refuse it

It is NOT for infection unless you have an std. Its to protect against blindness and other things IF the mother has and std yet they give it to every baby "just in case"! I refused for my daughter because I didn't want her unable to see me and what not. My Dr was perfectly fine with it she just had me sign the paper saying I didn't want it.

Well being that I didn't have an std and that's all the ointment is for, then yes she was great lol

okay, as a lab tech I can tell you that the eye drops are NOT just for STDs! They also protect against infections with lactobacillus, e coli, group b strep and many other bacterias that can (and are sometimes) found in the female vagina! group b strep itself can cause neonatal meningitis and permanent blindness. I work with these bacterias everyday in the lab and have seen what they are capable of. just wanted to make sure that you had the right info, since I do see it and am certified in the lab
