To experienced moms,

What were some baby and mommy MUST HAVES after delivery? I'm trying to sort through all the gimmicks and bells and whistles to find the items I'll actually NEED! Especially ones that will grow with baby. Thanks in advance,

First time mom

I was given so much but wished I'd returned it all. My baby was too big for most of the clothes, she got a rash from most of the diapers, I didn't use the crib(bassinet instead then coslept), didn't use the changing table (prefered changing pad on couch), didn't use the fancy diaper pail, didn't need baby bath (sink works great), and so on. I did however use the bouncy thing, swing, playpen, nice diaper bag (although a backpack works), and I wished I'd had a nursing pillow. I didn't even like the glider I got. I prefered a recliner. Most of the stuff was totally useless to me and took up too much room.

Honestly just whatever finds you comfort. A comfy night gown that's easy to breastfeed in. Your favorite blanket or pillow. You will feel icky and want a shower but other then that the hospital provides the necessities. As far as for baby... Nothing but you. The hospital has diapers, wipes, lotion, night gowns, hats, the baby will be swaddled for most of the time and they have all the receiving blankets you will need. They also provide nipple cream and a lactation consultant will come by and check on the feedings and you.
