Can somebody help me understand this. I got this ultrasound February 4th. To me it looks like my due date would be September 9th. It looks like they averaged the GS and CRL measurements. This is the date I've been telling people. At my last appointment my doctor said she had me down as a September 14th due date. Upon further investigation she found her notes from the appoint on the 4th had my due date as 9/9 but in the rest of her notes she had my due date at 9/14. She said it should be the 14th, she's not sure why I was given the 9th at first because you just go by the CRL not both. If this is true then why does my ultrasound show the AUA as 8w6d, with EDD 9/9/16?? Did somebody just mess up somehow? Should I go by the 9th or the 14th as my due date?
@brittanycheri, neither of the dates are from my period. My due date from my periods would be 9/1, I never went my that date. Where I'm confused is that my ultrasound shows me at 8w6d with a due date of 9/9. To get this number they averaged the GS and CRL lengths. The ultrasounds doesn't say anywhere 9/14 but that's what the doctor says it should say because they shouldn't have averaged the two they should have just gone by the CRL.
@stasjafawn, if I go by my period the date is actually earlier, 9/1. both 9/9 and 9/14 are from the ultrasound just looking at it differently. If you only go by the Crown Rump length then it's 9/14, but if you average the CRL and the Gestational Sac the date it 9/9. on the ultrasound printout they averaged the two measurements but the doctor said they should have only used the CRL.
the ultrasound is the most accurate for dating, hence why they have one so early. go by the 9/9 due date. most places estimate your due date by your last period, but everyone have different length ovulation cycles, with 28 days being the average they base it off of.
