My son was in a pack n play till 8 months. But when he went into his crib after that we used bumpers. It's all your personal preference some people would never use them. They also have breathable mesh ones.
If you do bumpers do the mesh ones they are breathable so you don't have to worry about baby smothering themselves on the bumpers they are good so baby don't get arms and legs stuck on bars
I'm a FTM and just took baby class at the hospital and they did not recommend using them, mesh or otherwise. Crowding in the crib can contribute to SIDS and they also said older babies could climb on them. No judgment, just passing along some info! I don't think I'm going to use them, but mainly just because I don't wanna cover my crib :)
nothing in the crib but fitted sheet. when I went to the sids class they said only fitted sheet not even blankets. they said just put warm sleepers on your baby at night
I stopped using them because my son was starting on them. we haven't been using them for months and were a waste of money. even when bumpers are on the crib he still got his feet and legs stuck in the bars.
It's highly recommended that nothing at all go in the crib besides a mattress and sheet. However, I have a friend with 1 year old twin girls and they have bumpers and are perfectly healthy.
I've just heard so many horror stories about babies suffocating due to bumpers being in the crib that it really scares me. My doctor also recommended I not use them, whether they're mesh or not. I'm a FTM so I am just gonna take the advice from my dr.

I've always been told not to use them, plus you easily save 50-60$ if you get a bedding set without them

eh I had them for my daughter. her leg got stuck in the bars too many times. I was done dealing with that.

no they can get their face pressed against them and suffocate. i would swaddle them until you cant anymore and have nothing in the crib.

I've always heard no....because of suffocation risk.
