HELP... HELP.... HELP!!!!! FTM here And mommies I need a little advise... I don't EBF my son but I do pump for him daily, multiple times a day and when I don't pump enough I supplement with formula. I always pump a really good amount and I do it maybe every 3 to 4 hours but my Question is how can I stop my boobs from being so engorged they swell up so quickly after I pump and they start leaking and hurting really bad, I'm scared that if I don't fix it I will have to stop pumping and my son won't get ANY breast milk!!!!

well your body is trying to regulate your supply the first 6 weeks will be the hardest. make a pumping schedule and stick to it! every 2 or 3 or 4 hours which every you want. to help with engorgment, don't pump, hand express l, hand expressing doesn't stimulate you to make more milk

your milk is trying to regulate.... how long are you pumping? I was told if exclusively pumping to pump for 10-15 minutes after your milk stops flowing.... but that is once milk is regulated..... if you don't stimulate your breasts to make more they won't produce as much between pumping as @steph11 said

Ok thanks ladies. I'm not sure how to hand express but I will look into! And I try to not stimulate them at all but if I wait more than two hours to pump they start to get engorged. My son is only a week old so I guess ill just have to figure out a schedule until my milk regulates! Thanks again ladies @steph11 @sarahdrew

at a week old a baby would nurse every 2 hours usually (I pumped for my son and at first they had me doing every 2 hours, they told me to pump everytime he ate, it may help with regulation
