I heard it wasn't safe to have cats if your pregnant because Its harmful to the baby the cat litter. and the cats try to suck the milk out the baby mouth causing them to suffocate
cats and babies My so and I haven't been able to have cats for years. Last year we moved into our own house. So says we can have a cat now.
For mommies that have already had a baby & had a cat, How did it go when the cat & baby were introduced? I have 3 & my boyfriend is worried about how they will react to the baby ..
any of you ladies have a cat and before your baby got here the cat tried sleeping in the babies stuff??

They are attracted to the smell of milk on the baby's breath but they won't actually hurt the baby unless they're right next to them unattended and the baby suffocates or something

It's not the litter that's dangerous it's the cats urine. But having cats isn't dangerous you just can't clean the box while pregnant and don't let the cats sleep with your baby that's all

The only thing I ever worried about with my cat was that he'd cuddle too close and the baby would suffocate. I just shut their doors when they slept. And it's the ammonia that comes from their urine that is dangerous- but I changed my cats litter all the time with my last baby, it's ok as long as u cover your face so ur not breathing it in! And don't touch the litter (why would u anyways. Lol)

We have 4 kids and 3 cats. No problems. Just don't change cat litter when your pregnant.

the second part is an old wives tale. that cats steal the breathe from babies. I had cats with my 1st son. they left him alone

nope. as long as you don't change the litter box you'll be fine. I've never heard of the cats trying to get the milk from the baby. the most my cats do is cuddle me lol they were fine when my friend brought her two week old over.

i have 3 cats and my doctor just said don't change the litter box.
