An update from my appointment with the neurologist today following my dizzy spells and flashing lights. Early indications are that I do have a brain!! ;-)
He thinks it is silent migraines and wanted to prescribe some drugs that are typically given to epileptics and I'd have to stop taking them 4 weeks before Baby is due but I said no thanks.
He wanted to give me some tablets that would stop the nausea but they would slow mine and Wendy's heart rate down so again I said no. I'd rather feel rubbish and know she is safe, it's only 6 weeks.
There is a small chance I have a benign tumour on the outside of the brain which is oestrogen receptive so the pregnancy would make it grow causing these symptoms so he wants me to go and have an MRI scan. Scary sounding but he stressed he really thinks it's the migraines and not this, we just need to check.
Hope you feel better soon. i had a MRI in my first pregnancy due to headaches, i was diagnosed with benign intercranial hypertension, basically too much fluid in my spine and round my brain causing headaches. its very rare but can happen in pregnancy due to hormones its come back now in my second pregnancy. its unlikely that but its worth a mention if they cant get to the bottom of your headaches i was told it was just migraines for months and it wasnt xxx
Your taking it all in your stride by the sounds of it! I hope it's just a migraine too hun x
@homely.mummy.no2, I'm fine. I just want to make sure my little lady is cooking well in there. I was worried about MRI in pregnancy but my midwife assures me it's ok after 12 weeks. If worse case scenario it is a tumour they'll look to deliver her early but healthy so they can treat me but I'm sure it'll just be the silent migraines which I can tolerate with no treatment till she's here. X
@britroper, I don't actually get any headaches, just all the other symptoms of a migraine. X
