not after your first trimester. because your uterus is getting bigger and the weight from that is laying on a major vein that moves the blood to your heart and it makes your heart work harder which can also make you feel lightheaded. also, it prevents nutrients and blood flow to the placenta for the baby.
I do. Sometimes it's the only way to get comfortable and give my hips a break. Being on bedrest it gets really uncomfortable so to find relief I lay on my back for a bit until I get uncomfortable that way.
I would ask your doctor...everyone's doctor is different. I was told by many people not to...I asked my doctor and he said if it's the only way to fall asleep or stay asleep it's fine at least try to prop your upper body up a bit when doing so. That way it helps relieve the pressure off the back, vein, lungs, and stoumach...if you lay flat it's bad because of the weight and it give you less oxygen to you and baby. I usually sleep on my right side and proped up on my back and only left if I am getting really bad heartburn when nothing is helping.
I'm 36 weeks, and at night my hips hurt so much so I'll just lay on my back for maybe 10 mins then I'll go back to laying on my side. I mean, you have to lay down during the ob visits so i guess its not bad if it's only for a short time.

It's fine as long as you're not feeling dizzy/breathless that's when it's not okay

Yeah I'll just ask my doctor then. I don't get heart burn. I don't want the baby to get less oxygen either @aydensmommy2016
