Any one here ever got a amniocentesis? If so did it hurt ?

I got it done at around 20 weeks because Savannah was measuring small and usually before 25 weeks it means there could be a genetic abnormality. They did an ultrasound to see where baby was and then picked a spot. And I was told I need to relax for 2 weeks and then I would be out of the woods for the 1% risk

@jessica0830, that's what the doctor told me it will be more uncomfortable then painful. How many weeks were you when you got it ?

It was more so a lot of pressure than pain. And after it was sore like I did a bunch of crunches

@mam426, my baby has too much fluid in her/his neck. So the baby has a high chance of having Down syndrome.

@amaperalta03, why you getting one?

@mam426, I'm suppose to get one this week or next week. I'm a bit nervous but it's just something that needs to be done

@amaperalta03, I was 28 weeks pregnant. it put me at ease they did it because my son was 5 1/2 weeks early and he never ended up in the NICU. I knew head of time he wouldn't because tests showed his lungs where very healthy and developed enough he wouldn't need to be in NICU. He is 11 years old now.

@mam426, how far along in your pregnancy were you ?

I had it done with my 2nd child. They did because they wanted to make sure his lungs would be fully developed if born premature. Not going to lie it hurts like HELL. they did it through the belly button.

@mantha823, its a 1 in 200 chance so less the 1% I've done my research. In My case blood work wouldn't be enough

They want me to do it because of my age nah im good

I've heard there's a risk of miscarriage....I've never done it always just got the blood work.
