I didn't before. Olivia's pediatrician said after the shots, if needed. She started getting so fussy and had a fever so I gave her a little bit of children's Tylenol

@leiibaaaby, I just heard this, but they say not to do that anymore because it can affect the performance of the shots. 😳

My doctor said if you give it to them before it helps prevent fevers and fussiness. Never had a problem with fevers or fussiness because of it. But all doctors will do it differently and don't always recommend the same and no way is wrong. They both equal the same result.

Studies have shown that giving ANY medication BEFORE the shots can interfere with the effectiveness of the shots, this is newer research and many doctors will still tell you it's okay. However, preventative medication is unneccessary, as not every baby gets a fever and fever in and of itself is not a bad thing unless it goes too high, it means their lil bodies are properly responding to the vaccine and can actually be beneficial when it's low-grade. It's highly recommended to give tylenol as needed, AFTER the shots.

I waited till after the shots the first time and he was fussy fussy and screaming so the 2nd time I tried about 15 min before and he was definitely alot better. It not only helps with fevers it helps with the soreness too which can be discomforting. Listen to your heart mama, its your baby (:

the pediatrition she had and her new one said it's OK to give a bit for the pain which is what I did... Idk how it can interfere since I haven't done my research but seems to work for us (:
