why is breastfeeding past a year or even 2 years so controversial in the US? I think I want to keep going past a year, I just don't know anyone else who did, so idk how to feel supported in my efforts. I know there are going to be plenty of nay sayers!
@kattastrophe, oh no no is absolutely did nothing to change the process. He never took a bottle from me either it was frustrating at first because I was worried he wouldn't at home with my husband but that's when I learned it was just from me lol my husband says it's because I had the jugs that's why 😂😂 but nope I went cold turkey and transitioned him to milk slowly as well. I didn't just give in and give him regular milk at once. I truly hope it works out for you ☺️☺️
@amymabundio, that's a great goal!! my daughter won't take a bottle, but I'm hoping she'll take a sippy cup of breastmilk when she's older (:
@simonelevien, that's so cool! wow, good for your mom! are you and her pretty close?.... do you plan to breastfeed past infancy like that too? (:
I want to breast feed my daughter till 2 1/2 then pump after
@mommy431, that totally makes sense, it sounds like he would eat and breastfeed pretty equally. I've just started giving dinner for the past couple of weeks and I'm getting ready to add another meal soon, I just didn't want to start a weaning process and I wasn't sure if adding a meal would do that
I breastfed until I was like 5 or 6…I think it's because Americans sexualized everything, especially women's bodies so feeding your own child becomes a conversation about modesty and sexuality it's strange and gross…fight the power! Breastfeed for as long as you and your baby want to!
@kattastrophe, so I started his solids at a late stage I wanna say 8 months. My first born was a preemie and had a hard time adjusting with solids so I went through a scare with him that made me hold off late on my second son. When he turned a year he would wake up around 6am feed, go back to sleep and wake up by 8:30 I would give him breakfast and then he would feed around I wanna say close to 11 have his lunch and nurse again a few hours later then have dinner and nurse again. He would sleep through the night and wake up once to feed occasionally twice and that was our routine till about a year and half he would eat his normal meals feed around after lunch then he wouldn't bf till bed time and wake up again during the night once. So his feeding went from 5 times to 3 times a day. If I make any sense to you mama lol
@mommy431, that's so great that your husband was so supportive about it, I think mine has the "whatever you want " attitude..... I have a question though, when you breastfed for those 2 years, how much solid food were you giving?
@kattastrophe, thank you!! It wasn't easy I had a lot of people tell me he was old enough and that I should stop! But he's my child so I ignored all negativity my husband was awesome about it as well stood by me 100% and never once told me to stop he was very encouraging! Truthfully my son only bit me once when he had teeth and when he did that I yelled NO so loud it caught me off guard lol my poor little guy got scared and cried never did he do it again and I think that's another reason why I kept it going.
@mom13, my daughter got her first 2 teeth before turning 5 months lol!! it's actually not as bad as you'd think, she's only bit me a couple of times when she was teething and wasn't really hungry anyways..... whatever you decide though, a fed baby is all that matters (:
it is your choice personally im gonna stop when my son starts developing teeth dont think that would be very comfortable
@mommy431, wow! good for you girl!! I want those kind of goals (: I have the privilege to be a stay at home mommy, that's so great that you can do it while working!👏
That person was a dick even if you get negative comment it's your child they don't have to watch you are the parent:)
@oliverandmommy, thats so awesome!! do you have a good relationship with your mom?
@pregoprincess, that's very true, I just like believing I'm doing the right thing. my husband's mom stopped breastfeeding him when he was just barely past 1 because someone said "are you going to follow him around preschool with your boobs too?" I'm really hoping I don't get a bunch of crap like that too, since most of the females in my family didn't make it even 4 months, or some never tried.
@kattastrophe, it's been controversial for a while now, I think it's more controversial now because women are on the move more and not just at home, that and more women are choosing to nurse rather than offer formula.
Because people in the us think that after a certain age kids shouldn't be breast fed. They are just opinionated that's all.
@kattastrophe, I breastfeed my son till two days before his second birthday and went cold turkey by choice. I had a full time job and I couldn't take the time to be pumping. I got mastitis and clogged ducts often that it was for the best. My thought personally 2 was best age, I will probably feed my daughter till about a year if I can.
Your child do what you want period
I know Is so early but i feel flutters it feels so weird but i love it 🥰
Hey mamas! With this CORONAVIRUS going on when is your child's school re opening?? My 4 year old autistic son goes to pre school.. there re opening on April 27 and I dont know how I feel about returning him to school... so far in Virginia there going to be closed for the year but not in Maryland
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Question: 16 year old dating an q8 year old? Thoughts??
My opinion is hell no. 16 year old is still a kid. Kids now a days want to be grown so bad and be in adult relationships and situations. I know when my daughters are 16 and they tell me they are dating an 18 year old. I will surely flip my lid.
I turn 30 years old today and I don’t know how to feel about my life so far. So many things have happened to me the last month and a half and I don’t know what my future holds but I will just stay positive and keep going.
@mommy431, thank youso much! this has made me feel a lot better about everything (:
