how do you mommies feel about episiotomy?
should I let it tear or have them do a episiotomy?
I didn't have time for an episiotomy bc my son came too quickly so I tore but it wasn't too terrible. I had a few stitches and it healed well!
I had an emergency episotomy and the recovery wasn't that bad. In the middle of pushing the doctor saw that my son had the umbilical ccord around his neck so he did it to get him out safely. and mine was from vagina to butthole. it was sore but I really didn't think it was that bad.
I know multiple woman who say episotomys are harder to recover from and usually way worse and you will end up tearing anyways. there has been little to no evidence that they prevent tearing. almost all obs now a days unless they're old and old fashioned will not perform episotomys. it's an old technique. let it tear on its own naturally
If you are worried you can ask for a perineal massage and ask for tips to not tear
I had 2 and they healed just fine but of course every body heals differently and their body can handle things that others may not be able to@karinacx
i had a very bad experience with my 1st child :'( i was in labor and i was doing it all naturally, no pain medication...when suddenly my ob said she has to do an emergency episiotomy because my babys head was too big...so they made an episiotomy and i felt it all....i can still feel the pain...definitely one of the worse...then they had to stitch me and i also felt that....it was traumatic :/ specially for my husband...he was very traumatized
