Me: My plan is to have an all natural childbirth.
Society: Haha yea well wait until you start labor you have no idea, you'll want the epidural blah blah blah.
Why is this such a radical concept? Why is it weird to want to try for a natural birth? I would never make fun of the way a mom chooses to bring her child into the world.

Everyone handles pain differently. I planned on doing all natural and ended up getting an epidural. But whenever someone asks me I never really answer what I plan I doing I just say "I'll see when she comes" lol.

I read once that if you really believe and have your mind set on natural birth than it makes it easier .

People are never happy with anything. When I say I want an epidural they talk about how I shouldn't bc it will fuck me up permanently & a bunch of other shit.. Everyone will always have a negative thing to say about your decisions

I think it's because, especially for ftm, there's no practice for labor, so society thinks because you can't "fully prepare" for it that there's no way you could decide what you want ahead of time. Ex: I went 11 of my 14 hr without anything. (I believe being stuck in bed may have turned my son to eventually trigger back labor. Add that to being on pitocin, and it was really difficult.) I got an epidural, which was only effective for part of my right side, and by the time it got to more of my body I was pushing. Looking back it wasn't worth it, so I will be avoiding that and being induced if I can help it. I think keeping an open mind is helpful, but always go for what you want! :)
