Jacob Roger was born yesterday, 3 days early weighing 7.7lbs and measuring 20.5 inches. I was woken up around 630 a.m. with minor contractions and they progressively got worse. Let the hubby sleep til about 830/9 and told him we might have a baby today. Tried to get in the tub to relieve some pain but that didn't help cuz I was having some back labor in between regular contractions. Finally told him to call the doctor and they said to come in. Got to the hospital around 1145 and was 5/6 cm. I wanted to go natural but the back labor was so bad I got the epidural. Best decision ever haha. By the time I got that I was 7 into 8 cm and that wasn't long after we were admitted. In all honesty he would have come way quick if I had gone med free. Anyways, of course the epidural slowed things down some, but by 5:40 or so I was ready to push. About 15 mins later he popped out. For a FTM I am proud of that! Even the nurses were surprised. A little internal tearing but all very minor. My perineum didn't tear at all. So far he's been perfect. Could eat more but I know they sleep a lot the first 24 hours. Rarely cries and has passed all his tests with flying colors. We're so in love! 💙

congrats! Back labor is hell....I had it with my first and went natural🙈 I was crazy.

@angiek, so true. I could have TOTALLY done without the back labor. I truly believe that's what made me cave because there was nothing I could do for it. But I'm glad I went with the epidural. Now I'm worried for my next one...it may just fall out haha. I told my husband as soon as we start contractions with the second we're going to the hospital haha. But I do also believe in laboring at home as long as you can. That way there's no being sent home.
