Does anyone have fun suggestions for how to get out and about with a 0 - 8 week old? Looking for ways to stay active and social so I don't go nuts during August/September. Things I like doing now are organising social cycling trips, indoor rock climbing, talking about politics/current affairs, hosting dinner parties, wine tasting, live music etc. I don't expect I'll want to talk about babies much even when mine is born (just a hunch, based on not being at all interested in pregnancy talk now)...

Hmmm you probably won't be going out much in the first 8 weeks

We'll see. You don't get locked up that long even for tax fraud! At minimum I'm going for acupuncture & thai massages :)

How come 0-8 weeks? It's probably more likely you will go out after the 6-8 weeks. It's very overwhelming in that first period, as much as you might think you'll be fine.

Do you have someone to watch babe while you go for the massage?
fiasco·
I'll just take her with me (when she's sleeping).

Okay that could work, only problem would be if she wakes halfway through your massage. You could still have people over, you know you're gonna be pretty tired right?

And sore most likely..

While it's great to see you so ambitious and motivated to stay healthy, I agree with @carlyanaya . The first few weeks are exhausting & tough. Coming from someone who's just had their second baby, allow yourself to heal, perhaps a light walk with Bub in the pram with a friend would be better than jumping straight into rock climbing ect.

Thanks for the tips. I'm sure I can get a half hour shoulder massage to work. Any actual fun suggestions??? I'll be out every day walking our two dogs anyway so looking for other things to do before jumping back into pilates at 6 weeks & swimming at 8 weeks. My parents in law will take her for stints in the day if I need to catch some sleep at my sister in law's place down the road from us...

Well I'm not sure what to suggest, I'm a painter so I like to paint at times while Remmer has his sleep or my next goal is to do workouts at home. Totally depends on your situation. Do you have help at home? Also depends on your baby and how she sleeps, also on how you recover from birth those first few weeks

That's great that you paint! A hobby you can do in small pieces is a really good idea. Will have a think :)

Definitely and it's something i can go to easily as I have set up an area for it ready to go
fiasco·
That is a good idea - bet it feels like your own space too. What are you working on at the moment?

Well Im normally doing oil paintings, im halfway through a big one of the Aussie red dirt scenery with a water hole and brumbies drinking out of it. I find landscapes and scenery sells the best but I love to paint horses and figures.
