It depends. Mine did it for a dating scan because I didn't have a cycle in between my previous miscarriage and my current pregnancy. He just wanted to see how far along I was. It also depends on your insurance, because a lot of insurances will only cover two scans per pregnancy, so some doctors don't want to waste those early on in the pregnancy. But I'm sure the doctor will do one if you insist on it!
