My birthday is in a month and I know I'm going to want to drink ! However, I do plan on breast feeding and my baby will only be maybe 3 weeks old. I've heard that you could "pump and dump" but is that really affective or should I just not drink at all?

Rite aid and Walgreens have test strips to test your breast milk for alcohol

@ljmommy, it depends on how much you drink. breastmilk is only in your body if it's in your blood stream. if you can blow a clean BAC, it's not in your system. so 1-2 hours per drink.

@emily18234, so after 24 hours it will be safe to breast feed again?

@gab044, okay but how long until the alcohol is out of my system for me to begin breast feeding again?

or you could pump and store some before you drink

I pumped and dumped and used stored up milk. Turned 21 a month after my daughter was born.

pump and dump doesn't do anything. you can have A drink and still feed her since the amount of alcohol transferred is so miniscule, anymore than that, I'd say just get some formula for 24 hours and pump at the regular intervals to keep up your supply
