@xbbycolletto, I've never heard of this...well I have but don't know anyone it's happened to. Is he ok? How long do they think he will be in NICU? How does that affect a baby? I'm sure you've got to be exhausted.

@erinflaherty818, it's very common for babies to do sometimes. when babies poop in the uterus it gets in that amniotic fluid their breathing in. it's very harmful if it gets into their lungs. which is what happened. hes doing much better since he was admitted after the emergency c section Friday night when id gone into labor due to his arm sticking out my cervix and him being in water that had the merconium, (his first poop). for his condition it's caked around his lungs even though it's starting to slowly clear out. so he's 2 days old and he's been in the NICU since the minute they pulled him out of me. he's estimated to be in the NICU until maybe Thursday if he can get his respirations down. but how it affects the baby is by then breathing the poop into them it can cause an infect which in some Cases even lead to a baby dying if not treated. he's now breathing in the oxygen range they want. but he's breathing to heavily and fast. a baby should be taking 40 breaths a minute. my son is taking over 100 in a minute bc of the merconium surrounding his lungs. imagine yourself with bad congestion in your chest. that's basically what the merconium is making him feel like. making I hard for him to breathe. I'm very exhausted. but my son is such a fighter and that motivates me to push through all of my exhaustion

Thank you for taking the time to explain all this to me! How scary, but how inspiring!
