I don't think labor should be medically induced unless absolutely necessary. not understanding why…

Sometimes it's an old school doc that doesn't want to listen to newer research, or one that pushes it for convenience. Sometimes it's the women, either because they're exhausted/in pain and don't know, or they know and want to jump the gun because their doc said baby was "ready."

I've seen women on here at 36 weeks, saying my doctor said baby is ready, could come at any time, then they ask about how to self induce. :( So it's not all doctor led. Doesn't make it any more comforting though.

I got induced with both my girls. The first was because I couldn't do anything without having trouble breathing. Literally sitting and it was hard to breathe. The second was because my fluid was low and she wasn't passing tests and at risk of still birth.

@harpierae, right i don't disagree with the medically necessary cases..I just remembered with my daughter i was very young 18 and the doctors were going on vacation he asked me to pick a day and we'll have a baby lol I didn't know any better but with my son is went completely natural and waited. I switched to a midwife and love it

Mine won't let me go past 37 weeks due to twins. Now knowing they both have a heart defect I'm not sure if they will push for even earlier.

I'm being induced because if I wait till my due date or later my husband won't be here to see his little girl. The army sucks. He'll only have 3 days with her after I'm induced.

My friend was just delivered at the beginning of this month by the same midwives as I will be, they induced her at 38 almost 39 weeks... Midwives induce too....

Yea, I'm going to ask if I can be at 38 to almost 39 as well, she had nothing wrong with her or the baby. I really want to deliver on my step moms death date or birthday (4/6 or 4/10). And I hate my due date (4/20) she will be a native of Colorado I don't want her having to go through life with people asking her if she is a stoner because her bday! Or a nazi (it's hitlers birthday as well)!

My Dr wants to induce me at 39 weeks for pretty much no reason (my labors go super fast so they want to make sure I'm in the hospital when I give birth) but I had all my kids naturally at least a week and a half early so chances are I'll go into labor before that anyway. And ppl have been giving birth without hospitals for thousands of years! I'm sure I'll be fine lol

@number321, that is so messed up for a Dr to want to induce because of his or her vacation! wow!!
