Let me just tell you..... after finding out both babies have the same heart defect and what may come of it. Googling is a blessing but a curse. I have read medical info and stories from other babies that have gone through it but if opened my eyes to how serious it is at the same time. I just wonder what kind of life my sweet babies are going to live and it's hurting my heart. This is so hard
They were honest but tried to be very optimistic. She said until they are born they won't know how bad it is. Could just require them to be on meds to regulate their blood pressure or could need open heart surgery from 1 day to 1 week old. The issue they have will make it to where their hearts are working so hard it thickens and they could have heart failure or the bottom half of their bodies will get no blood flow. It's just alot and the not knowing is terrifying. I'm just keeping in my head and heart how much they have already made it through and just hope they are just as stubborn through this and they only need minimal interventions. @junebug2016
My niece also had holes in her heart. They never closed then they said she probably won't live to see adulthood and she is now 24 and going strong and no issues. Sometimes even Drs make situations seem worse then they really are.
Oh ok my son was born with three holes in his heart we had to have many ultrasound appts for his heart until the age of 1. By his one year appt the holes ended up closing up. Just pray about and know that Google is always the deliverer of bad news when it comes to medical info rarely anything reassuring on their.
Oh my.. Im so sorry to hear. Maybe development of the aortas will change as they grow a little more?? I certainly hope life will be fullfilling for them.
@junebug2016, They both have a narrowed aorta. Maybe something else too but until they are born it's hard to tell how bad it is or if there are more complications. Being followed by a pediatric cardiologist now.
Try to stay optimistic hopefully everything turns out well
