When's the best time to get a 3D or 4D ultrasound?

I had mine at 28 weeks. My ob office suggested between 28-30 weeks no later than 32. They said 28 weeks usually has the better images.

The person who did my ultrasound said that between 28 and 34 weeks is the best time, the closer to 34 weeks the better.

My doctor only did 3D ultrasounds, I never got a 2D one and I really wish I had one! But I really liked the 3D. I didn't get an ultrasound though until I was about 14 weeks because I didn't find out until 2 weeks prior.
