Compromise with middle names? My BD wants to name my baby after famous sports stars but I want my baby to have his own identity, so I would discuss it

I feel like the argument would be much better in the long run than naming your daughter something you don't want to.

I would say just be honest and upfront. Naming your child is a big thing!
