@cdernandar24 I agree with you. In my opinion spanking promotes more fear than respect. At least it did for me. It made me truly despise my mother and father I really do feel that I would feel differently toward them both if they had resorted to something else. Just my experience
I'm not judging anyone that does but I will absolutely not use spanking as a punishment for my child. I won't go as far to say that it's abuse but I just don't think it's right. Only my personal opinion and like I said there is absolutely no judgement for mothers that decide that spanking is something that will work for them. Every family and child is different
@nanabuggie, i am in favor of time out! Some kids learn easy when something they love its taken away! Growing up I got some spanking and i love my mom but I don't quite agree! To me it promoted more fear then respect! And those are different things! And I pray to God my kids wont fear me!
I believe in both. time outs, spanking and mouth smacking(not hard) are all way I plan to parent. I hope I don't have to but if my daughter is anything like her father and I she will be a little badass
My parents spanked me. Never with anything but an open hand on my bottom but I learned and turned out fine :). I think a simple spanking is a good lesson but I also see value in time out. I think I may do timeout as step 1, spank if

i wish i got a time out... id get hit for little things.. ill do time out for little things but i dont plan on repeating myself...

We do time outs for serious issues. When he was younger we would just redirect. But now we have a star/behavior chart that I swear by!
