I applied to work at a day care about 2 and a half weeks ago. I'm 18 years old and 28 weeks pregnant , currently attending night school. The owner stated how my application was really good , better than most older adults she's seen , as she was reading it over. She gave me a tour of the daycare and introduced me to fellow workers . She then called and told me after the CORI check passes I can start orientation and training. Like I said it's been 2 and a half weeks so I called to check the status of things and she said my CORI check still hasn't processed , which my mom thinks is bull because it usually doesn't take that long. (We live in mass) She told me that usually it only takes this long if something were to come up on the CORI check . (Suggesting that I probably have a criminal record , but I know nothing would show up) So I asked a girl that works there who goes to the same school as me if she told her boss that I'm pregnant , thinking that might be the reason for this delay , and she said she did in fact tell her, and that as soon as I left, her boss asked why I chose night school and if I was pregnant. (There was no way she could have been able to tell from my bump because I had my coat on) Do you think she is stalling and doesn't want to hire me because I am pregnant? If so , is this even legal? Thoughts?

My cori only took 5 days to clear. I work at a daycare in Natick started a little over a month ago.

U can sue that's discrimination if they're rejecting you because of your pregnancy you have a right to work and provide for your child

Have any of you heard of a CORI check taking more than two weeks to clear?

it is not legal for them to discriminate against you for being pregnant

I've applied at many places and had interviews then they end up calling me and telling me some bs excuse why they didn't wanna go with me and I KNOW it's because I'm pregnant. Its illegal not to hire someone because they're pregnant but they'll come up with another reason why they didn't hire you.

They can't discriminate because you are pregnant but they can always come up with a different excuse of why they won't hire you

it's not legal...but hard to prove. She could easily find someone with more expirience in whatever aspect she deems "expirience" to be and hire them
