I'm scared to do it because he likes to bury his face in things when he sleeps. He's in a rock n play and I want to get him out of it since he's now 4 months so I tried it during nap time and he did fine, but the next time he put his face straight down. he can move his head fine and has great neck strength. but when I rock him he always has his face buried into me so im worried about him sleeping overnight like this.

Yeah honestly if there is nothing for them to bury their face in and get stuck like big blankets and toys or a pillow the tummy is perfectly safe as long as they can move their head from side to side completely on their own with ease. Once babies start rolling most of them roll to their side or tummy to sleep anyways...back scares me more than tummy because I feel like spit up could get stuck in their mouth easier.

They all say that however about every 10-15 years they change that...when I was a baby it was belly only...both my other 2 slept better on their tummy. So since she is able to lift her head and turn it side to side I'm comfortable with her on her tummy especially since she's right next to me when she sleeps.
