Has anyone painted a crib before? If so, how did you so it and how did it turn out?
We're going to repaint the one we got. Rough up the one you want to repaint with 100-200 grit sand paper. You don't have to take off the finish, just rough it up so that the paint will stick. If there are any scuffs though, sand them flat. After that, when picking paint make sure it's nontoxic. I intend to go to lowes or Home Depot and ask them what is the safest paint for a baby crib. 2-3 coats should do it, just make sure you do it evenly. Also choosing the right paint brush is important I read. 100% nylon bristle is supposedly the best. And we don't intend to do a top coat/gloss. I read that they can be very difficult to apply and even dangerous if done by an amateur. This is the link that helped me most. (: ссылка
Also make sure it's taken apart, I wanted to spray it while set up and my husband was like what the hell no way it's a lot easier while taken apart, which is true!
@bentleysmomma, thanks. I'm getting a used one as well and its red and I need it to be navy blue. I'll go to Lowes tomorrow and find a nursery paint.
check pinterest they have awesome ways to do it and seal it so baby can't chip it
Everyone told me not to, because it will chip and the baby will chew on it and blah blah blah. But I did it anyways because I got a used crib that wasn't the color I wanted. I used spray paint (it was in this fancy can that looked like febreeze) which I recommend because the other can I got that wasn't fancy came out and dried and it felt like sand paper! It was not a smooth finish. I'm not done yet but so far I like it (-:
