thinking about work.. (don't need to go back till jan) I am a manager of a big dental practice, I have worked out with my wages after paying petrol and childcare I have £250 left a month for 55 hours a week. easily said not worth it. Rather claim benefits and spend time with my baby. however I have worked since I was 13 and I can't imagine not doing anything. so I want a part time job or work from home. what do you lovely ladies do? and what are your future plans if you don't mind me asking. xx
I work In a call centre so I'll be going back part time and working in the evenings once my partner comes home from work...will work out quite well😊@felicjuh
I'm probably going to go back weekends to start with, I have to work away with my job and won't be able to leave her for a week and stay away I think my heart would break. So we've planned off for six months then weekends or part time for six months then we will see after that. I don't want someone else bringing up my child whilst she's so tiny. Hopefully financially we will be ok. I'm usually the bigger earner.
I completely agree @tuftyturtle I'm thinking about doing something similar as you :) xx
I am an English and history teacher but I chose not to continue teaching and have children at the same time. I love teaching and put 100% into it and wanted to also give 100% to being a mum. I didn't feel like I could do both at the same time as well as I wanted too. so I started working in a call centre. I work part time now, 16hra a week and earn more than stat maternity pay. It pays the bills.extra money would be nice but I'm happy with spending time with my children instead. Once they start school I will return to teaching. The first years are so precious, once you've paid childcare it's barely worth working so might as well just work part time to earn enough and focus on your kids.
@felicjuh, lol!! it doesn't really have to be ;) i failed the advanced driving test but then passed when i got myself in the right mindset
@jem29, don't think my driving is good enough to become an instructor haha xx
driving instructor it's going to work perfectly around my little one as I can work evenings and weekends when boyfriend is home and if you have to cancel lessons last minute people are very understanding
I'm leaving my job of between 48-55 hours a week plus sleepovers for part time work. No idea where, I'd like to go back to a nursery maybe! @felicjuh x
