hubby and I already discussed if our daughter decides to become active we will get her on BC like the arm implant where she can't forget to take it like the pill. but as a parent you have to make the choice and be open with your daughter

I will put my daughter on BC at a young age. Probably the pill I was on it. Not any shots or anything like that because all I'm hearing now is how people used those and have trouble conceiving when they are older and trying. When I was you they had a BC pill that was geared towards younger girls it was a strong but lower dose. I got pregnant at 17 I was naïve and didn't know squat. I don't want my daughter to struggle as I have. I love my babies but I wish my parents had been more involved and I was informed but I def. was not. So I will hopefully set a good foundation for my daughter.

@mareesan, my mom was so open I still ask her embarrassing body questions. I think it helped. I was already on birth control since I was 16 for period related reasons. but didn't have sex till I was 19 and that was with my now husband (we were married a year later) my husband doesn't want our daughter to become pregnant young. he has been very adamant about that

I didn't go on it until I was 15/16. I had really bad periods and I had a steady boyfriend at the time and I really wanted to be safe. I didn't really explain that I wanted to have sex with my boyfriend so I just asked because of my really bad periods. It's a tough subject for some parents.

Well if I was having a daughter me and my fiancé discussed she would go on birth control at 13 and it would be the implant in her arm. My fiancé and I were both wild child's he lost his virginity at 12 and I lost mine at 13 and it took 2 years for my mom to find out I was sexually active and put me on the pill. And I got pregnant on the pill with my little miracle now at 17. Since I'm having a son we will want him to be open and honest with us about when he becomes sexually active and we aren't the type to tell him "you are not aloud to have sex" because that forces them to want to do it. We will have the sex talk and talk about safe sex and making sure the girl he decides to have sex with is protected with some type of birth control and to always wear a condom even if she is on birth control. At the age of 15 we will have condoms under the sink in his bathroom because we do not want him to feel like he has to be embarrassed to talk to us about it or to go get them himself. I'd rather be safe and be called a bad mother for making sure my son at least can protect himself than be sorry and have to help my young son raise his child because we didn't do everything we could to help him

definitely put her on birth control. my mom knew I was sexually active at 13, and I asked her to put me on BC and she refused because I was so young its "embarrassing" to her and it would only show me its okay to have sex. I ended up pregnant with my first son at 14, and then she decided to get me BC after I had him. I don't agree with her thoughts on BC when turning 13 because a teenager will still do it even if you tell them not to, I would rather prevent my daughter from a teen pregnancy then let her do what she wants.

I do not have a daughter but if I found out about my sons having sex. there is no doubt I would be having the talk with them and their sexual partners and they are not being man hoes and respecting women.

i was on the depo shot my parents would hold me down and make me. ive been with my boyfriend since i was 13 we lost our virginity together my parents didnt like him seperated us from school etc. they would hold me down and give me the shot. i wanted to get pregnant at 15 i was trying then i moved out at 17 and started trying for our baby went to the doctor she couldnt understand why i wasnt getting pregnant since the age of 16 nothing happend when i was 14 i was on the pill for 5 months then depo for 9 months. i have always thought the depo messed with my body. the doctor put me on bc pill for 3 months starting august i ended it in October got pregnant in October with our miracle baby after years and years of nothing but negative tests. it was really all gods timing. i would stress about it and cry i was thinking i would never be a mommy I got right with god and trusted in him and made up my mind id rather be saved by god and never be a mom then not be saved and not go to heaven with my babies. i got pregnant the day i got baptized. but i myself would not want my daughter to get pregnant young. i would probably only do the bc pill not anything stronger

I would definitely have the talk with them even before they expressed it, because most kids don't talk to their parents first, they'll talk to their friends who are the same age. That's what I did, which was pretty illogical looking back now. I wish my mom was open with me, but I had to figure it out on my own. She was raised in a way were those things weren't talked about... she didn't even talk to me about menstruals, I got mine at 12 and I was so lost. I think it definitely good to be open and give them the option to to birth control, I would also try and promote waiting as well and respecting themselves. I think when women grow up with parents who teach them about self love and not having to fit in, they're less likely to want to give that away so easily.
