I would call your insurance and ask them reason being I have to have my doctor write my "prescription" for my breast pump but the doctor can't write it until after my baby is born and they'll send one in the mail. That's just how the breast pump is it has nothing to do with my insurance but your insurance should have that information for you. and yes its safe to try nipple stimulation (breast pump to induce labor or even rubbing your nipples really hard)

@melina.a.613, I'm 27 weeks & my insurance covers my breast pump. I had to get a prescription & then the doctor sends a form to my insurance & they send it out to me. I should get it within the week.

I have Tricare and I think they do the same thing @tmross . I am supposed to get my prescription at my next visit which is 30 weeks @cskoonce

I asked my doctor last visit which was 22 weeks and he said just give them the fax number and my insurance faxed a paper, he filled it out with a copy of the RX and I got notified that my pump should be here soon
