If you start formula in the hospital I think they have a certain kind there but if you start off breast feeding and end up with formula you choose. Then if your baby has trouble with the formula you can see your pediatrician and they will help you find the right kind for your baby. That was my experience anyway :)
You. When you're in labor, and the baby is born they will ask you if you're going to breast feed for formula. And if you say formula they ask what your choice of formula is, that way they can give the first bottle to the baby. I said "Enfamil".

if your on wic it's always Enfamil and Similac from what I've noticed
