you can choose the last name but the father can always take you to court and change it

Asking for donations for a wedding?

I just spoke to my lawyer about this exact thing last week. you have a choice what your child's name is. Even if the father took you to court, and you had a valid reason for wanting the child to not have the fathers last name, then a judge will most likely keep it how you want it. I myself am not with my child's father,and never will be which is why my daughter will have my lastname. He has been inconsistent since day one and I don't feel like he is deserving enough of that.
