Lotus birth is another thing I feel like women are doing to be "hip", infection, thromboembolism, and jaundice are not worth letting the placenta fall off naturally, like you could literally kill your baby, or make them very sick. Why can't delayed cord clamping be enough? After the placenta stops pulsating it's dead, therefore useless! It won't magically pump more nutrients! However the blood in it will clot and that's a great way to pass a blood clot to your baby, congratulations you're so hipster👏 Just a vent. Opposing views are welcomed, just my personal feelings..

right! I feel like that's so unatural... like who leave the placenta attached for days like that. really unsanitary! I'm doing delayed cord clamping just until the placenta is actually delivered then they're free to cut. anything after that I feel like there's too many risks.

I find lotus birth odd im all for the delayed cord clamping just because the baby loses 1/3 of its blood when the cord is cut right away. I didn't know those were the risks to lotus birth thats crazy! I'd rather the hospital have to deal with disposing of the placenta instead of me haha

lol welllll @emmasmomma16 I'm going to capsule my placenta just because I'm scared for ppd. but you can't even tell what it is its like brown powder in a capsule by the time u get it back lol or else I wouldnt!! but I would never eat it like jerky or raw like some people do!!

I did delayed clamping of the cord on both my boys (11 mth old & 36 wker), the doctor actually ordered a transfusion of the cord blood for my newest squish since he is 5 was early. I couldn't dream of having to drag around a dying liver looking thing. lol

@amber188, it does look like liver! I asked to see my oldest sons after he was born. lol All of my placentas have been 13-16lbs. (4 births)

Sooooo I mean how does that work though 🤔🤔🤔 you stay in the hospital until it separates... Or they allow you to go home like that😳. And that smell has got to be horrific.... And when you dress the baby what do you do with the placenta,.... Sooo many questions 😂😂😷😷😷😷

I just don't see the "benefits" out weighing the risks. and @sexxymama83 they deliver the baby and the placenta and most women wrap it up in a blanket or towel to carry it around and trap the smell. some even keep in in a big lunch box so it stays cool and smells less. I have no idea about clothing and taking care of it. I don't see it being easy, especially if you already have to care for the newborn do you really want more to do? @amber188 @emmasmomma16 @ilyric @vrf04042016
