Wednesday I have my appointment to check for gestational diabetes. I am super nervous about this because I have noticed my blood sugar levels being low.
What should I expect for the appointment and do they tell you right away? Or do you usually have to wait for the results?
call your doctors office an ask them if you are supposed to fast for 8 he's before your test. I had the 1 hr one an they told me to fast. my levels came back high so I had to do the 3 hr test an they told me to fast 8hrs before my test, and a couple days before to eat more bread and pasta because it helps even your sugar in your blood so it downs drop so low when you take your test. the drinks aren't to bad they just taste like flat pop
you will go in and they will give you a very sweet drink to drink, it's like a flat soda with extra sugar, it's not too bad really. you will have 5 minutes to drink it. then you will probably do your regular appointment stuff, and once an hour has gone by, they will draw your blood. then you will be done. it does usually take a day or two to get results back, and it's a good thing if you don't hear anything from them, that means you had good enough results that they will just go over them with you at your next appointment. that's it. it's easy, even though everyone makes it sound traumatic and terrible. the 3 hour test is worse, but still ok. a little advise for before, don't eat anything with too much sugar, and avoid any starches like bread or pasta because they process as sugar in your body. it's not as bad as people make it seem, honestly. good luck!
usually you drink really sugary drink, wait an hour then they draw your blood, then wait for the results
You couldn't find a babysitter?!
Mommas, do you take your kids with you to run errands and go to mundane appointments? On two separate occasions, a doctors appointment for me and today at a car service appointment, someone has remarked "you couldn't find a babysitter?!" It never crossed my mind to find a babysitter. I take my 2 kids with me just about everywhere. They are well behaved (minus the occasional 3 year old meltdown) and one of them is attached to my boob the majority of the time anyw...
Locking your doors
We are having a discussion on one of my birth boards from my older kids about locking doors and security alarms. There are many of us (me included) who do not lock our doors at home (I actually don't even have a deadbolt on my house and we don't lock it when we leave either), and others who think that's totally weird. So what do you do? Do you lock your doors? Do you think it's weird that people don't?
Question 🙋🏽♀️: what age do you allow your kids to have a cell phone?
My son wants a phone and I don’t know why lol. I’m like you have a iPad for games and anyone you need to call you can have my phone.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
how many children
Do you have?
Thanks! I have been advised to not eat anything 3 hours prior to drinking the sugar drink which I already have and I'm supposed to drink it an hour before my appointment. I just hate having to wait for results!
