My son was born last Thursday weighing 7lb 10oz. was 7lb yesterday at checkout and 6lb 13oz at todays pediatricians appt. Since my milk still hasn't come in yet Dr wants me to pump every 2 hours to see what I'm producing and supplement with formula so that he's getting 2oz every 2 hours. We've done that throughout the day and it's been going well and satisfying him to where he's sleeping well between feedings. Just went to feed him for his next feeding though and he's completely uninterested. Should I be concerned since we're trying to get weight up or does this just mean he's not hungry yet and we can wait until he lets us know that he is. This is so much more confusing than I ever thought it would be. Feeling overwhelmed.

That happened to my daughter so after I tried to give her my breast I would pump whatever I can and give her the rest. The doctor was worried at first but he said to continue doing that and once she started getting more food after a couple days my milk came in great and she was getting all she needed so there was no need to wake her up every three hours she was able to go an extra hour and at night able to go 5 hours so I wouldn't worry too much as long as your precious one is having a nice full tummy every feeding

to be honest everyone will have a different answer with my son I only fed him when he was hungry but ny sister in law fed her son on schedule no matter what. do whatever you think is right tonight and call your pediatrician tomorrow with what she feels is best
