So, I came up with this idea for me and my fiancé to have a joint account for our son who is coming soon. We gathered together no more than 4K to start off with and put money in bi weekly. This money will only be used for our sons needs. Is this a good idea?? I have spoken to plenty of moms and they mention how most of the money they make being single moms or with help spend most of their extra money on their kids and don't have time for themselves. I'm trying to prevent that by separating our kids needs, bills, and me and my fiancés needs. What do you guys think !????

the only issue I see happening is you will have to do more than one transaction at stores to separate your things from your child's. Giving them their own bank account is a good idea, my son has one. All of his money he gets from chores, birthday, othe holidays goes in there; but we are not on his account for his protection we let his grandfather be second holder in case anything ever happened between me and fiance his money will not be touched by us.
