Personally- a wonderful idea

@mrskelly, before. She was like 4 months. She really didn't know how to use the spoon but it's was just enough to slow her down she she wouldn't be taking in too much all fast. I would just give her a little in the morning and a little at night. At 6 months she was eating eggs and grits lol

@jessica0830, I know what you mean lol. You started feeding your daughter cereal in a bowl at 6 months?

@mrskelly, my daughter was too so I had to give her some type of solids because I wasn't producing enough milk for her. Mixed breastmilk with some cereal in a bowl until it was really funny and fed her that way. Made a world of difference. It was just enough to satisfy her and give my poor boobs a break lol.

@jessica0830, yes I know my baby is greedy. They say boys are greedier than girls anyway lol.

@mrskelly, I'm all for solids a little before 6 months just use a spoon to slow them down because babies can be greedy lol

@tiffrae true. I wouldn't just do it with my 2nd son now that I'm more knowledgeable.

asking for advise from your sons doctor will be best, every child is different and develop differently as well.

@tiffrae true understandable. Thanks for the info. I did it with my first son & he was fine but idk about doing it with my second son prolly cause I'm older I'm 24 & I know better now but with my first son I was 16, & just listening to ppl in my family who were helping me out at the time.

Bad idea. Can mess up their digestive system because they're downing it so fast and can cause the baby to gain a bunch of unnecessary weight. My mom always said give it to them by soon. Even if they can eat off of a spoon yet it helps control the intake

I think my son was 2 months old when I started him. He wasn't getting full and kept drinking until he made himself sick. We would do 2 teaspoons for every 2 ounces of milk and started out only doing it a few times a day. Now he's a healthy chunky 20 lb 7 month old lol

my son will be 2 months tomorrow and he has been on going on 3 wreks. Be careful on the amount you give your baby due to him or her being constipated. I had to learn about that the hard way.

to me it depends on the baby. the sitter for my first son kept giving it to him after we asked her not to because it kept making him constipated. so this time with my second son, I waited till I was able to feed him it on the spoon and will probably do the same for this baby. I'm not against it nor for it, but I guess if the baby can handle it with no problems then each to their own

I never did it. it's empty calories and also babies stomachs can't handle solids until after 6 months. Same goes for straight up solids, babies under 6 months only breath through their mouths and don't have the gag reflex to swallow. If a child is getting solids before 6months their doctor could of recommended it. I don't judge people who do it to early because it's not my children, they are theirs. All I can do is educate.

i started early and it has worked out great.
