Not producing as much milk as I was when my milk first came in. I'm mainly manual pumping and breastfed at least once or twice a day. What can I do to help
Ok gotcha.... Tons of water, even pump in between pumping (if that makes sense) to alert your body that milk is needed. Oatmeal, almond milk, sweet potatoes
Oh no. I'm sorry! Then just keep doing what you're doing! Definitely stay hydrated! I would make sure you're pumping every hour or so even if milk isn't coming out to keep the nipple stimulation up. Have faith! You'll make it! Hope your little one comes home soon!
@bri28 he's a week old. He's in the NICU so I don't have a choice. I have to pump to bring to him so they won't give him formula. I nurse when I go see him.
Stay hydrated. drink more water !!! I hope baby gets well soon so he/she can nurse!
Also, drink malt beverage. I like the one you can find in the Hispanic isle in the store.
How old is your baby? I wouldn't use a pump in the first two weeks at all. It's not recommended, unless you don't have another option of course. But the babies sucking and pumping is completely different. Breastfeed tour baby more often a day.
I'm a full time nursing momma of a 3month old. I have always nursed on demand. Pumping will never be as efficient as your baby's sucking. To increase your milk supply I would try putting your LO on the breast more often. I had a friend lose her supply completely because she didn't have enough stimulation!
It's gonna sound weird but my mom had that problem with me, and she solved it by drinking a can of beer. Now, obviously after you drink it you gotta wait for like an hr for it to filter out of your system so it doesn't transfer to the baby but she swears it made her milk go crazy.
@bri28 @newmommma thank you. Helps a lot.
