Help me pleas My baby is circumsized and we were told what to do by his doctor. We were told to use a gauze with petroleum jelly on his private. We came home today and my BF's mom was like "you shouldn't use a gauze because it's gonna be more uncomfortable for him, my BF didn't use a gauze like his mom said, put the patrolium jelly on his private but absolutely refused to rub it in on the area because he said "it's an open wound and you don't touch open wounds. His mom said we should let it air dry on him without a diaper but I refuse to let things go that far! I'm still suffering from having to be stitched up in my private area after labor a few days ago....and it hurts like hell! I don't want my baby going through that pain because his grandma and father are "think they know it all" dumbasses! What is the proper way for me to take care of my baby's circumcision correctly 😢😓

I had my baby 3 days ago and he is circumcised. As long you put lots of vasoline on it your good no need for gauze. And so I don't touch him I put all the vasoline in the diaper because you don't want the diaper to get stuck as he is going through the healing process

Yes put the vaseline on the diaper instead of directly onto his skin. I've never heard about gauze. I wouldnt let it air dry unless the doctor advised you to do it that way, i've never heard of anyone do that either

I'm having my first baby soon and this is a concern for me also. so just normal Vaseline inside his diaper? Is there a certain way to clean him in the bath?

well I have 2 boys you can put the Vaseline on the diaper and his private area too that's to keep the diaper from sticking to his penis when you change it.

@foxtrox, don't bathe his private area until it heal, but the rest of his body.

do everything exactly like the doctor told you to! if you don't use the gauze, his privates can stick to the diaper causing more unnecessary pain. the Vaseline prevents feces/urine from saturating the wound...

use the jelly and cover it and use diaper. do what the doctor say. u have to put a gauze so the wound is not exposed to germs and it's a baby. u need a diaper on him. tell those people to stop telling you what to do and listen to the doctor that has a medical degree.... EVERYONE IS going to have an opinion on everything. IGNORE THEM ! LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR AND LISTEN TO YOUR GUT ... MOTHER KNOWS BEST. u do not want it to be infected that's why u have to put the gauze on..... tell them that.... TELL THEM YOUR THE MOTHER..... .NOT THEM !!!!! AND IT'S YOUR CHILD :)

Do what the dr said. Put a glob of jelly on and cover it with the gauze and out the pamper on.

you have too cover him with the gauze trust me you don't want it getting infected

I have 2 boys and with both if them I was told to just put a glob of petroleum jelly on it and put gauze over it ..... I was told not to rub it it .... and only really wipe wipe it if he pooped.

They are almost 5 and almost 9, and I got the same advice for both
