I'm so sorry honey! Breastfeeding is very painful! But it will get better in time! 😘😘 what pump are you using?

To help loosen up your milk a little, take a warm / hot cloth to your breast, and continue to hand express. I found a hand pump to work 10x better than electric, so if you can find one and don't mind hand pumping, I'd suggest that!

Make sure that the parts that go on your breasts are the rights size, because your engorged you might need a bigger one to get the right suction

@oliviasmama1211, its an evenflo electric pump. idk the exact type. @tatiananoelani the manual pump hurts just as bad as when my daughter latches.I qaa literally just sticking the bottle right to my nipple and squeezing my boob. @santistevanmommie they are the right size. it'll only work if I'm squeezing my boob while tryong to pump. I get more out hand expressing than I do with a pump

Try using a nipple shield

as silly as this sounds, I used a gel thing around the pump flange on the side I had a clogged duct on. it was a life saver and it can be used warm or cold. they were thera-pearl things by Lansinoh and you can get them at Target or Walmart - at least up here. I have only ever used a medala electric pump and it is wonderful, but they are spendy.

I use a madela double electric pump. I was having the same problem as you. now my baby will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and it only hurts when she first latches. I read on a breast feeding forum that you mix warm salt water and put them on your nipples and then use a dry rag to dab dry then put the lanolin cream on. I did this after every feed g for a few day and my nipples are almost all the way better. good luck. breastfeeding is defiantly a challenge. also when I take a hot shower when engorged just massage your best and express the milk.

Sometimes pumps aren't that good. Maybe it's the brand of pump

It could be that the pump isn't strong enough for you. I know some people say some brands worked better for them than others. While that same brand that didn't work for them worked for someone else

a little advice about healing your nipples, using lanolin can actually do more harm than good if you're not careful. if you use to much you can actually dry out your nipples making them crack even worse. let them air dry after nursing, rub some milk on them if you like, but I know you said you don't feel like that helps. and use something like this nipple butter (this is the "off brand" of the honest company's nipple butter everyone suggests. this is so much cheaper, you can get it at walmart and it works amazing.) It's lanolin free, natural based and actually moisterizes your nipples plus it's safe to leave on when your baby eats. put the nipple butter on before nursing if you'd like, then air dry, and put some on when your done. this healed my nipples in about 2 days.

I got so engorged my first night home I drank mother's milk tea and that same night my milk came in... so in was super engorged... I woke hubby up crying at 6 am sent him to Walmart.. he got me a hand pump.. by evenflo worked wonders

I started getting cracked nipples in the hospital, and mine got so bad I would cry at night when she would latch. the good news is, as long as baby's latch is good, once your nipples heal you shouldn't get any more cracks. after they're healed they should be tough enough that every day nursing is a breeze. I know it sucks now but it'll get better. :) take care of them, and let them air dry religiously and they'll get better, and be care with being engorged it can ruin your milk supply and cause clogged ducts. also when your nipples heal and one of them still hurts when you nurse look for something called a milk bleb. when the skin heals it sometimes grows over and seals off one of your milk ducts so you'll get a white milk blister that pretty much needs popped. when I popped mine and hand expressed for relief I got 4 ounces out of one duct. it hurt pretty bad before I found out what it was and fixed it. I just wanted to let you know about those because I had NEVER heard of a bleb before and they're really common after split nipples. I hope everything gets better for you! good luck!

@crunchymomma, I had some of those so I took a shower and they became soft enough that when the towel rubbed on them they came off. I have to correct her latch everytime because her mouth is so small and my nipples/areolas are so big that she can't get the whole thing right away and she keeps her lips curled in lol they've gotten a little better but I had her latch yesterday morning, because I was so engorged and tired and she was hungry, and it still hurt so bad. I mean it literally feels like they're being sliced off when she latches. I'm just gonna keep doing it by hand because it take me a half hour to get 2 oz between both boobs and I can do that 3 times a day probably 4. thanks for the advice tho
