does anyone know the difference between child support & tanf?
& basically if they don't pay, they'll get in trouble, right? @34466 sorry for all the questions lol
No problem going through this right now. We have custody for our nephew and are getting cash assistance. Got a letter shortly after that they were going after his parents and once they establish child support then that money will initially go to paying back the state.
Ok ok I get it now lol I was confused for a bit. thank you @34466
Also if you are receiving cash assistance it's temporary. They only give that too you until the establish child support from the other parent and once you do that it goes back to the state to repay the money that have given you until it's repaid.
I believe so. when I signed up for food stamps I had to put my husband on there or we wouldn't get it, which is no problem since the money comes back to us anyways.
do you know if you have to have your babys father on cs to get it?
child support is when the other parent pays money to the other parent for the child. the other one is when public aid gives you cash for things that the child needs, which is hard to get
@teamblue040416., oh your good love. It depends on the situation. With ours his parents are supposedly homeless so there's not much they can do. They will cut you off after so long and if they feel you were not supposed to get it they will make you repay it. I was going to get it in the start when with my SO but the lady freaked me out saying if they found out we were together and I was getting it my kids would lose their Medicaid and I would have to pay it all back and would have a mark basically saying I'd committed Medicaid fraud. So I backed out of that quickly. I guess it will just depend on why you are getting it.
