Hey Mommas. So I just got the results back from my quad screening and my doctor said it was a little elevated for down syndrome. She's going to send in a referral for a ultrasound sound with a company who specializes in ultrasounds with down syndrome babies. I know the chances are like 1 in ever 275 babies, but how many mom's had this and what happened. I'm just not sure how to handle this as I'm a ftm. Help?
@mommyslilsquishy813, they said they would bill me. I believe it was around $100 or so, but don't take my exact word for that. I'll have to double check.
That's actually why I'm a lil worried is because I had a miscarriage back in October. and @lumbeemama how much was it to send in the blood work to a specialist?
Message me if you have any questions at all. I just recently went through all this and I wish I had someone to take some of that worry off my mind. Especially since I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy took hold. You can never get too many words of reassurance.
can you tell me what you thought when they mentioned that? what were you feeling?
@mommyslilsquishy813, just keep a positive mind. I know it's easier said than done, but it's all you can do. You're baby will be more than okay:)
I have not personally had to deal with this (I've never done the quad test with any of my 3 pregnancies), but I've heard that alot of women get false readings. I'm not sure though since like I said I haven't been through it. I'll keep you and your baby in my prayers.
No Down syndrome. My numbers were just higher than the average pregnant. It's like probability. The chances of me having a child with an extra chromosome are higher than a lot of women, but it doesn't mean my child will definitely have it. It has do with hormones or something like that.
Also, after the ultrasound they offered me an invasive procedure to where they would stick a long needle in my stomach to get a sample from the baby. They said it was be the best way to make sure there are no abnormalities. I refused though bc there was a chance for miscarriage if I went through with that. So instead they told me they could do additional bloodwork and send it to a speciality center but insurance doesn't cover it. So I went with that.
It happened to me. I was a nervous wreck. Had to wait a week after my doc called me with results before I got the ultrasound. My baby is okay though but I have to get an ultrasound every two weeks just to monitor his development.

Wanted to share with my baby bump ladies !!! This was my ultrasound pictures at 7 weeks 4 days !! I'm 8 weeks 1 day today !! Have to turn pictures upside down to see baby.. I'm in love with my little one !!!! Due date january 26th, 2019.
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
So, a few days ago I did genetic testing to see if my baby would have any disabilities. The numbers came back higher for Down syndrome and I now have to speak to a counselor about my options as far as continuing this pregnancy. The midwife said it isn't a final diagnosis, and it still makes me wonder. I'm not sure exactly how to take this, I'm thinking of getting a second opinion. Has this happen to anyone you know, or has anyone experienced this before and received a good outcome? I don't want ...
Ladies I think the whole 'heartburn means the baby will have tons of hair' thing is a myth. based on my ultrasound I just had, unless she is blond and it just didn't show up on the ultrasound, my baby girls gonna be bald. 😂😂😂 headbands, ftw!!
First ultrasound tomorrow & I get to see exactly how far along I am! Today's my birthday and I'm just so excited for tomorrow!!!💙💙💙
My little brother was suppose to have confirmed Down's syndrome and be a girl. He was born a perfectly healthy little boy. 😊 I'd try not to stress too much about it.
