i go in for my first obgyn appt tomm. ill be 5 weeks 4 days. excited yet scared. what do they usually do on the 1st appt? i know it shouldnt be like till 12 weeks or smtn but i had a miscarriage in sept before i got the chance to see a dr cuz i was overseas. so i wanted to make sure everything was alright this time around. also that vaginal ultra sound, i cant do that! hurts like hell. tried 2 times before and im completly traumatized. could i refuse it?

first appt they just talk with you about their office doctors midwives and the insurance you have the hospital(s) they deliver at and anything to inform u about what to eat and how you're feeling

they may take a blood sample from u as well if their office does it or they'll request that you get blood work done

It's really hard to hear anything that soon on a regular ultrasound, so transvaginal is the best option at that time. Yes you can refuse any treatment, but like I said, a regular us may not give all the info needed at that time.

Usually they will take your info give you info take your weight some blood samples and a pap smear it's the longest appointment. I was there almost 3 hours. You can refuse the vaginal ultrasound but like mentioned you won't get to hear the heartbeat and make sure baby is fully ok, they can't even pick it up on the doppler yet.

Did you try the vaginal ultrasound since being sexually active? They hurt me too, until I was married having sex on the regular!

Not try, but had one done since....they got better for me afterwards.

@expectingz, i have actually about 1 month b4 i concieved. ive been married for almost 2 years and that vag us is still so hard. i think im making it harder than ut seems but that 1st time the dr was so rough he traumatized me!

@2ndchancemommy, welcome, oh and it hurts me a bit too, I just ask them to go a bit slower and usually that helps a ton just a bit of advice if you do wanna try again

@2ndchancemommy, totally understandable! I had a similar issue, and it hurt like heck, but you have to relax honey. Hopefully you just breathe thru it!
