i had my daughter 6 years ago.. i wanted to do it all natural.. around 2 am my blood pressure stopped and doc came in and told me i had to have one to relax my body..

now they wont just give it to you but they always have someone on call at the hospital hin

I'm pretty sure you have to sign a waiver to get the epidural at least I did , so you should be totally fine

no you don't order it you just let the nurse know you want it and they will send them in with it

that won't give it unless you request it and you do sign for it

I'm not sure lol I always want it! I couldn't imagine labor with out it! I cry from cramps no way I can handle contractions

You can make a birth plan with your dr. and specify you don't want an epidural. I didn't want one either but quickly changed my mind when the horrible pain set in :) all you do is ask the nurse and they send in anesthesiologist.

My doctor asked me several times since my first visit if I wanted one and I said yes every time lol I'll also put it on my hospital registration form

I told them I wanted to go without but at 6 cm I got one since I couldn't breathe. I think they always have someone on hand that will administer it. They know people change their mind often. So no you don't need to "order" it in advance to get one.

I've never had to watch a video. But when your ready for it they bring it. Just make sure your support system knows your wishes so when the in pain Morgan is talking they can get thru to the normal Morgan Lol. with my 3rd I went 8 hours without one and finally gave in. sometimes it helps hour body to relax and baby comes quicker

@hermommy, and there are other pain meds they can give you to take the edge off also if you need.

@hermommy, I delivered 2 natural on pitocin drip it was the worst pain of my life but so worth it and now I will be doing another natural birth soon with my son. it's amazing to be completely in control of the birth knowing you did everything you could , I've also had an epidural and I was still very proud !

At the hospital I delivered at you are supposed to let them know when you get admitted if you want one so you take priority over those who don't want one bc they had an order they had to go down and if you let them know you change your mind after saying not wanting one you go to the bottom of the list unless medically necessary
