it's not high risk at all it's just not recommended that you being pregnant change then liter

My fiancé works insane hours and is hardly home right now, so I will have to be cleaning the litter box at times. So I'm curious if I wear a mask and gloves, if it would be okay?

@simplyairbear, My doctor said no on changing the car litter because of Toxoplasmosis. My husband has to do it. However, he is going to the field for 10 days for training, so I am going to have to wear a mask and keep myself as protected as possible when changing the litter for those days

@melina.a.613, so a mask and gloves is protective enough to not have to worry? I was told that the parasite is contagious at 24 hours so as long as it's cleaned daily, it isn't as bad of a risk of toxoplasmosis. But I'm so paranoid I wanted input lol.

I have two cats. They sleep with me sometimes but my mom changes the litter box

@simplyairbear, To be honest, if possible, maybe changing it once or twice is okay, but I would ask my doctor about wearing protective gear if you don't have anyone to help you. You wouldn't want to put yourself at risk or baby.

I have a cat. My boyfriend changed the litter box but it's safe if you wear gloves and a mask.

My husband cleaned it every time during my whole pregnancy.

wearing gloves and washing your hands really well after changing it if you have to do it is fine too
